Why are Lori Laughlin and Olivia Jade being investigated by the FBI?

If you don't know who Olivia Jade is, she is a 19 year old YouTuber with millions of followers. She just recently started attending the University of Southern California. She didn't spare any time posting videos about it, quickly having an Amazon sponsorship about this.
In one recent video, she was talking about school. She basically talked about how she was hoping to balance school and her social life but she didn't know how much of school she was going to attend. This caused some angry comments. She has even said "I don't really care about school, as you guys know." She made an apology video about this. For me, I don't really get offended if someone doesn't like school, it's their business but what I just found out does make me mad.
A federal investigation recently found that her parents (Lori Laughlin and father) had paid multiple bribes, amounting in over 500,000 dollars to say that Olivia and her sister Bella were part of the university's rowing team. You can check that she is not on the rowing team roster for the University of Southern California. This would grow the chance that she would be accepted into the school. She is among 50 other students found to have cheated in one way or the other in admissions.
As I have heard, there is proof of this occurring through emails, etc. Right now, they are unsure of whether or not Olivia or other students accused of this actually knew that their parents were doing this.
Right now, she has blocked the comments on her most recent Instagram posts and hasn't made any comments. Lori Loughlin deleted her Instagram account the day that this whole things went out and Olivia's sister Bella made hers private. The university is now reviewing their admissions process to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
